Cornwall Brass Band Association Festival of Brass 2025
The band took to the stage yesterday afternoon at St Michaels Chruch Newquay along with 19 other Cornish bands from ungraded to Championship section. The bands performed a wide varitey of music to entertain the appreciative audience some of whom listened to all 19 bands from 0930 to 1915hrs (including some of our own supporters).
Under the direction of Mark Phillips thhe bands programme included Through the flames. This was followed by a solo performed by our Sassy Soprano Cornet Amanda Gardner. Amanda stunned the audience with a great performance of the theme from James Bond “Live and Let Die”. The band followed this with Overture Opus 1. The mood then changed to a hymn setting including Eternal Father Strong to Save. The piece “Chorale Prayer”. Our finale was a fantastic piece of music premiered by Cornwall Youth Brass Band in 2010 and dedicated to our very own Cornish composer Mr Goff Richards “Behold the Power of God”.
The band would like to thank the Cornwall Brass Band Association for arranging the festival and look forward to being back in 2026.
